About the Speaker:
Ekaterina Pannebakker is Assistant Professor at the University of Leiden where she teaches private international law, comparative law, and transnational commercial law.
About the Topic:
Ekaterina Pannebakker will be talking about her recent publication “Teaching sustainability in transnational commercial law: three dilemmas” (Uniform Law Review, 2025, 1-9) in which she considers different arguments in favour and against integrating sustainability in the teaching of transnational commercial law. We will discuss her argument and put it into the broader context of teaching sustainable private law.

The Sustainable Private Law Talks is an online format organised by Tom Hick. The focus of this series lies on sustainability in and through private law, with a specific focus on concrete proposals to bring about a transition towards a more sustainable way of developing. It is meant as a low threshold environment to discuss those proposals in a constructive and forward-thinking atmosphere.
