About the Workshop:

This workshop examines the legal implications of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) at the convergence of public and private law. Bringing together scholars and practitioners working on CBDCs, it explores core issues of monetary sovereignty and constitutional legitimacy, as well as the transformative impact of CBDCs on property and contract law. The program further interrogates technological design considerations, the dynamics of market and public acceptance, evolving transfer mechanisms, and the complexities of cross-border regulation. By engaging with these interrelated dimensions, the workshop aims to deepen scholarly understanding of the institutional and legal frameworks necessary for the development and governance of CBDCs.
